Just slightly north of Maryland, in Lincroft, New Jersey, there’s an upcoming event that recovering addicts (or those in support of the recovery community) would definitely enjoy!
Fun Day for a Good Cause
On August 27, 2016, Brookdale Community College in New Jersey will host the 3rd annual Rock the Farm Festival. Lots of food trucks, cornhole, and musical acts will be featured at the event, which is a fundraiser for drug addiction and awareness. This year’s musical lineup will include Artimus Pyle (formerly of Lynyrd Skynyrd), Alice Cooper bassist Dennis Dunaway, Joe and Albert Bouchard from Blue Öyster Cult, Trevor Hall, Chadwick Stokes of Dispatch, and State Radio. In addition, attendees will also be able to enjoy yoga, guided meditation, a petting zoo, pony rides, games, craft vendors and food trucks.
How Does This Benefit Addicts?
Day passes to this event are $50 in advance, or $60 at the gate. Proceeds from the event benefit the CFC Loud N Clear Foundation. This organization promotes drug recovery efforts and healthy lifestyle choices. According to a recent press release for the event, CFC was started by two residents of the Jersey Shore, in order to “build strong communities and save lives by providing services that prevent, intervene and recover people from substance abuse. The CFC Loud N Clear Foundation provides many roads to recovery, without judgment of your choice, opinions or identity. The openmindedness of the program has led to nothing but success, helping over 5,000 families in the state of New Jersey.”
If you don’t have plans for Saturday the 27th, this is a great way to round out your summer and celebrate recovery! Further, there are volunteer opportunities available for anyone looking for service. For more information, click here.
