“Rain is grace; rain is the sky descending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life.” – John Updike

When we come into recovery, we are broken and hopeless. We don’t have the tools we need to grow and achieve our full potential in life, so we have used drugs and alcohol to make us OK. But in sobriety, we learn how to use the challenges and troubles we face to learn valuable lessons. Being sober for the happy times in life is incredible; but being sober for the difficult ones is just important. It teaches us to show up for people in our lives, and how to use those experiences to improve our own conduct and actions in the future.

Today, I will show up for my life regardless of how I feel, and will be open to opportunities for growth.
