The Collegiate Recovery Center at Anne Arundel Community College is an incredible resource for students who are working to maintain or begin a program of addiction recovery.
Where is it?
The Center, staffed by peer specialists who are themselves in recovery, is located in the Student Union Room 208-B, and is open Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-4:30pm. Regular AA, NA, and CDA meetings are also held on campus.
What’s the Purpose?
In addition to providing a safe space for peers to help each other in striving for not only recovery, but increased academic performance and social fulfillment. They also offer counseling, information, and resources, in addition to hosting and sponsoring recovery-oriented events., including the recent Hoops for Hope event. For many college students, who believe that getting sober will exile them from any sort of social life, this resource is invaluable and should set an example for other local academic institutions.
