***Important update!! The FED UP! Rally, scheduled for this Saturday, has changed locations. The FED UP! RALLY WILL NOW BE HELD AT THE SYLVAN THEATER on the WASHINGTON MONUMENT GROUNDS on the NATIONAL MALL in Washington D.C. (same location as last year’s rally).***

Talking about the opioid epidemic in this country is a great start. The more people that are aware of the dangers of prescription opioid misuse and the easy progression to heroin and other drugs, the better. However, talk is only the beginning. Taking action and getting involved is the next necessary step in bringing this problem into the light, and motivating communities and governmental agencies to make it a priority. Drug overdoses are now killing more Americans than vehicle accidents, and we have reached a point where this can no longer be ignored at a national level.

Given the urgency of this drug epidemic, Serenity Acres is proudly sponsoring the 2015 FED UP! Rally in Washington, D.C. The goal of the rally is to bring awareness to the national epidemic of opioid addiction and overdose deaths, and to encourage forward movement of governmental agencies and preventive legislature. This year’s Rally will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015, at the Sylvan Theater in Washington, D.C. (on the Washington Monument grounds on the National Mall). Come visit us at the Serenity Acres table in FED UP!’s exhibit area, where we will be alongside several other groups and learning opportunities along the Reflecting Pool. There will also be a musical performance by Elizabeth Edwards, followed by a March to the White House and a closing ceremony at the Ellipse.

What is the FED UP! Coalition?

In their own words:

“We are families who have been ripped apart by opioids. We have lost loved ones to death or addiction. We are medical experts and advocates who understand that the root cause of the problem is overprescribing. This is a grassroots coalition, all seeking action from the federal government to bring this public health crisis to an end.. We accept no money from pharmaceutical companies or their affiliates and 100% of the donations we receive are directly applied to managing the costs of holding our Fed Up! Rallies. We are beholden to no one – except our lost loved ones, or our family members struggling with addiction. We have come together to save lives.”

FED UP!‘s platform is focused on “prescription drugs and heroin, and on finding new ways to:

  • Prevent our children, friends, and loved ones from becoming addicted to opioids.
  • Ensure that people suffering from opioid use disorders have access to effective and affordable treatment.
  • Reduce opioid overdose deaths.

Come out on October 3rd and show support for the recovery community- for those we have lost to the disease of addiction, and for those lives that can still be saved. For more information on FED UP!, the Rally, and how to get involved, visit
