Serenity Acres Philosophies

We Believe that overcoming addiction involves treating the mind, body, and spirit.

Serenity Acres Treatment Center provides substance abuse treatment services for imbalances in the body and mind, and focuses on helping maintain a healthy lifestyle free of addiction. Although addiction (now called substance use disorder) has common characteristics and behavior patterns associated with it, all addicts are unique individuals and should be treated as such. Substance abuse often leaves addicts and their loved ones in a broken or fractured state. Holistic simply means “holism” or being “whole”. Our goal is to help both the client and their families to become whole again. Our team of specialized substance abuse treatment professionals are well-versed in the use of therapeutic Eastern and Western remedies to facilitate recovery from addiction, including alcohol addiction and other forms of drug abuse. Our treatment facility staff appreciates the importance of family dynamics and encourages family sessions to address underlying causes of substance abuse.  Addicts and their family members typically have deep hurt, anger, resentment and individual triggers. When these issues are left untouched during drug rehab, addicts and family members may have difficulty processing emotions, which may lead to a relapse into substance abuse.  Serenity Acres Treatment Center can help you regulate these emotions to develop healthy relationships and a drugfree lifestyle.

We believe that treatment can be comfortable.

Not Another Institution. Most programs providing addiction treatment Maryland and elsewhere are part of another larger program or hospital. Because of this, they often feel cold and institutional. We believe it is counterproductive to expect someone to remain sober when they return to an environment where sobriety is foreign and unpracticed. Because of that, life at Serenity Acres is designed to feel as natural as possible. The atmosphere is family-oriented and a sense of community is continuously fostered. The living arrangements are comfortable, relaxed, and designed to allow patients to relax and let down their walls so they can get into their recovery quickly and fully. Clients are introduced to new or abandoned recreational activities, they learn to live and communicate with others, and they leave treatment with a solid plan on how to continue their recovery.

We believe that each individual is unique.

Our treatment options and plans are as different as the clients we treat. We offer state of the art treatment options, and incorporate Eastern and Western medicine along with proven therapies to provide the very best for our clients. Because addiction is often complicated by underlying emotional or mental health issues, we integrate the care in both of these areas during the treatment process. This increases insight and produces better outcomes.  The types of therapies and treatments that are provided are individually designed for each patient to ensure that they are getting the most effective care for their particular needs. We do not follow a “cookie cutter” approach to treatment.
